Do you like the idea of a promise ring?

I'm asking because I keep seeing girls get promise rings and I honestly think it's a little silly, a promise ring is a promise to get engaged, so why don't you just get engaged. I just wanted to see what other people thought about the idea.

It's basically like using duct tape. Guys do it to shut their girl up about getting married. It prolongs getting engaged

I always thought it was something that just kids did and didn't actually mean anything. I didn't realise other people actually did that.

My daughter has a promise ring. Hers is a promise to herself. But I like the idea of promise rings and I never really thought of them as engagement rings more of like a pact between two people. A promise to be faithful to one another not so much a promise to get married.

My fella got me a promise ring in May, it is basically my engagement ring as we got married in October 😂😍

My boyfriend and I got eachother promise rings 3 years into our relationship (his idea completely) because we were only 19, not financially stable enough for a wedding or anything for that matter and still lived with our parents. We had a lot of growing up to do but wanted eachother to know that we planned on doing it together. I feel like we would've looked more silly getting engaged in that situation than getting promise rings. I do understand where you are coming from though

I think it depends on the relationship. My bf and I both have promise rings we got for each other. We didn't tell each other we were getting them for the other until our 1 year anniversary. But the reason we got the rings for each other are different from why others get them.
