Did you stop taking Metformin during pregnancy?
So I'm 21w5d and had my first appointment today with a midwife at the hospital I'll be delivering at. I've had PCOS in the past and was put on Metformin to treat it a couple of years ago. As of the start of this year I no longer had PCOS, but I was still insulin resistant so it was recommended I continue taking the Metformin (1500mg a day) til I fell pregnant and was 14 weeks at least, and that it was fine for me to take throughout the whole pregnancy too if I chose, which I have chosen to do til now.
My midwife today, though, (after discussing it with an OB) told me stop taking the Metformin right away (no weaning) and to go and do an early glucose tolerance test next week when I'll be 22w6d. Obviously she's a professional and wouldn't recommend I do something if it were going to harm my baby, but I am curious to see if any other women have been given similar advice? What was your experience stopping the Metformin, and did you end up developing gestational diabetes?
TIA (:
