Custody!

My daughter is 4 months old and her dad moved out when she was only 3 weeks old. He hasn't seen her at all in the last 2 months and was recently served custody paperwork from my lawyer. He is pissed! For the first time in months he calls me and says he's getting a lawyer and that we will have 50/50 custody. My issue isn't that I'm mad at him and want to keep her from him, it's that our daughter wouldn't recognize him anymore. She's so young and so closely bonded to me I feel like I should have her full time for now. What do you think?

EDIT: I'm asking the judge to grant him visitation only. He wants 50/50 right away but I feel like that may cause my daughter some distress
