Baby food?

So I've heard that babies under 6 months shouldn't have any kind of foods, baby food or solids. What have y'all researched or learned/heard in curious

Answer

It's recommended that there be no food given until 6 months. It lowers the risk of diabetes/obesity, they're developed enough to handle the food, and they're generally almost sitting up then so feeding is not only easier but safer.

I never gave my children cereal of any kind as it's just a filler. And lacks nutritional value. 
They say start with sweeter veggies and then work your way to fruit. 
Only try one kind of veggie a day, so if they have an allergic reaction, you know to what. 
I started at 1-4/-1/2 jar of food once a day, and maybe 2 days later did twice and two or so days later did baby food three times a day. And the amounts will increase as baby tolerates it. 
Discomfort, changes in bowels and gas are all normal things in the beginning, but if your child seems inconsolable, call your ped.

In Europe all the baby food cans aay 'can be given after 4 months' but some pedis recommend waiting until 6 mos, some until 4 mos. If you can, wait until 6 mos.

My pediatrician said cereal can start at 4 months, baby food starts at 6 months.
