Sick baby: YOU'RE FIRED! Update
My son is 11 weeks old, he started daycare last week. He has a cold, stuffy nose (but not runny) and a minor cough. He maybe coughs 3/4 times a day for the last 2 days. He's not fussy or acting different. He's eating normally and having wet diapers. I was at work today and get a call from the daycare saying he has a fever of 100.4. Taken with a forehead scanning thermometer. So he needs to go home, having no family around or a back up I have to leave. My boss is mad because I was out sick myself last week and he talked to me on Monday about my reliability... He said it's not working out and I'm fired. I get my some home and his temperature is 98.4 ear and 98.0 rectally. My rectal thermometer is from the hospital when he was born so I know it's accurate. Now I'm so upset I lost my job because my son had a fever, when in fact he did not! I'm still stuck paying for today and tomorrow when he wont be there. And now I have no job. I guess I'll be saving $1900 a month on daycare and stay home with my 2 kids.... We really relied on my income, daycare is expensive enough and paying someone to watch them when they're sick is a no go. I can't afford 2 babysitters...
UPDATE: I cannot get unemployment benefits because I haven't been working there for a full year. I took him to the doctor, his temp was 97.0. They said he just has a cold and will be better in a few days...
