what should I say?

My husband and I laid out a schedule for both of us to finish school while taking turns watching our daughter. However, he never sticks to the schedule and makes excuses because he is in a class with specific due dates and I'm just working on my dissertation which is flexible. This is true, my schedule can be flexible but I still need time to work on it, any time. I get mad because I need to finish before I can start my career and his degree is a supplement to his career (he's already been in his field for 10+ years ). If I finish on time I have the opportunity to get a job that could pay 3 times what I would make otherwise. If I don't finish I have to wait another year (college professors are only hired full time in summer). I asked if he would temporarily suspend his degree but his excuse is that if he doesn't take his class he has to wait a year before it's offered again. ...I'm mostly venting but I would take suggestions of what to say to him to convince him that finishing the degree that would net more income and allow me to start my career is the smart and nice thing to do.
