Have you ever went back to an ex & how was the outcome?

My ex and I were together for 3.5 years. We broke up because the flame was gone.. we barely had sex. We hung out more with our friends. We were annoyed with each other's mannerisms. It's been a little over a year now since we've been apart, and recently, I have hung out with him. I don't know what it is, but I feel absolutely amazing when I am with him.. like I did when we first started dating. He's been single this entire year. I had two short term relationships that obviously failed. It just seems apparent to me that no one has been comparing. I'm not sure if my thoughts about trying to mend things is me "settling" and going with what's comfortable, or if it actually has some potential. I know some exes have gotten back together, and love was sweeter the second time around. Others, it was exactly the same. There was no cheating or trust issues with us.. what do you guys think? Should I try it?

I actually just remarried my ex husband two months ago. Lol

We were married for almost seven years, the last two of which were awful. He was tired and checked out and cranky and mad all the time, I was lonely and getting my attention elsewhere. We were both wrong.

After we got divorced, we remained civil for our son. Then slowly became friends while seeing other people. When those relationships didn't work out, we got back together.

For starters, we did a lot of counseling at the beginning of our new relationship. And I watched closely for signs of what it was like before. And we had a lot of raw and vulnerable conversations about the things that terrified us.

In the end, we both decided while apart that we didn't want to be those toxic people and took responsibility for our part of the breakup. And still cared about each other. And we're willing to work twice as hard to get back together as starting over with someone new.

My SO and I have been together for almost 4 years. Last winter I moved out and went back home to my family, I felt like our relationship was just toxic on both ends. Five months later..we started talking and seeing each other...and now I live with him again, and we are expecting a little girl in March and..we are happy. We both changed for the better. I have been with my fiance since i was 13. 14 years. Except for 6 months 5ish years ago.  He was acting like an ass. Unemployed for 2 years. Me supporting us both. Not looking for work. Not helping around the house. I had a surprise pregnancy and quickly miscarried. I needed him and he dident seem to care. There were a lot of fights and he left and moved in with his family. We both dated around. He got his shit together.

Got a job, learned to clean up aftet himself. He grew up. We started talking again and i saw that he changed. So we got back together. Had our son who is 3 1/2 now and are 12 weeks with #2. There was some tension when we first started talking again. A lot of mistrust and anger from the past. But we get along great.. Bicker regularly but i cant remember the last time we had a fight.

I think it really depends on why you broke up and if both people are FULLY ready to work on the shit that went wrong in the past and move forward. Only you 2 know if yall can make it work. Follow your gut on this.

My significant other and I dated for a year and I broke up with him because I felt like we had two different expectations of what the relationship should be like... He had trust issues from previous bad relationships and my family/friends were huge priorities to me that I wasn't going to give up, which resulted in a lot of ugly fights. We were separated a whole summer and ended up talking again towards the end and the spark was still there. We took things slowly at first and worked on our communication and trust. It's been amazing ever since. We've had no major issues in two years and when we do fight we keep it calm and just talk things out. So I do think a break can be beneficial. It's gives people time to reevaluate their priorities and wants. People are constantly growing and changing and at times you may not absolutely love your partner, but you have to make the effort to bring back the spark and love.

My number one rule is; once it's over, it's over. I don't go back, there is a reason things end. In a moment of loneliness that can be forgotten.

However, my second rule is never date a co-worker. I've been married to a co-worker now for almost two years. So what the hell do I know.
