Nicu stay?

Who decides the visiting list for nicu babies? Im dreading having my inlaws around a nicu baby. First of all they never vaccinate and refuse to and with a nicu baby that could be dangerous. Every time we go there my son now 11 months comes home sick😒. Also... they are really negative and stress me out and i feel like they'd just add to my anxiety and stress with the whole situation. Im not sure if wel need a nicu stay but just wondering incase😔. Does so have a say cuz he is still connected by the cord to his negative mom and will want her there😭😭😭.

My hospital's policy is that only parents with a wristband get into the NICU... no one but the baby's parents gets a wrist band.

The only ones I would approve of going to the nicu to see my baby is me, my husband, and our son everybody else can wait until we bring our babies home. It's not to be rude or mean but it's already hard and stressful on the new parents and this is time for them to see their baby if they can't understand that then they don't deserve to visit. Also if they're sick or always getting something I wouldn't want them in the nicu around my babies or anybody else's.

My husband and I both had wrist bands to get into the NICU. If one of us wasn't there to escort someone else in the family back to visit the baby, they were not allowed. There was no list. Either me or my husband had to be there. And they wouldn't speak to anyone on the phone either unless we read off the ID number on our bracelet.

Parents decide who goes and at this time of year the NICU will be "closed" for RSV season meaning no children under a certain age and everyone needs to be vaccinated.  My mom sent out a text to the families letting them know that due to rsv only grandparents would be allowed to visit and they must be vaccinated.  If they weren't then they can't visit.

Also, if they're not vaccinated they're not allowed anywhere near a nicu.

When my nephew was in the NICU both parents got to add to the list... However the nurses advocate for what is best for Baby so if you let them know the concerns I bet your in-laws would either be not allowed or granted very minimal visitation.

I'm not familiar with NICU rules and regulations, however if I had to guess I would imagine it's ultimately up to the doctor. I've had friends with babies in nicu and I recall only the mother and father being able to go in. All hospitals are different. You could call the hospital you're delivering and ask NICU nurses.

I'd check, it may depend on the hospital. I know when my son was in the NICU  only parents and grandparents were allowed in.
