how long did it take you after getting off the pill

I know everyone is obviously different but I stopped my bc in August. We haven't had any luck and it is now December. How long did it take everyone to conceive after stopping birth control? I was on it for about 8 1/2 years. At about 15 (before bc) I had a cyst on my ovary that had burst and landed me in the hospital. They never said anything about that it would hurt my chances of conceiving when I was older but it scares me to think about.
