Pain with breastfeeding?

Question

Anyone else still having pain with breastfeeding?? I've seen lactation twice and have been using a nipple shield for over a month. I have tried without the shield, but it hurts deep down. I think my baby just clamps down too hard. I was really hoping it would be enjoyable by now. :-/

Has your little one been checked for a lip tie/tongue tie? We have a little bit of one so we use a shield. It's wonderful!

Have they given you any cream or anything? My daughter's pediatrician wrote a rx for a nipple cream with a pain reliever in it and also some antibiotic to prevent infection. It was a pain because you had to wash it off before every feeding, but totally worth it! It was the only thing that helped me!

I won't lie though, I get so angry when I hear women say, "I couldn't breastfeed. It didn't hurt or anything but I just didn't have the patience." I want to yell, "do you know what I would give for no pain!?!?!" But if you can hang in there it'll get better.

Do you have any cracks or anything?

Yup. This is baby number 2, and the first time I had pain for 2 months and I thought, at least it will be easier the second time. Welp, here we are at 3 1/2 months and I still have a crack that won't heal. We had a tongue and a lip tie fixed, I'vebeen to a LC several times, and still.

But I do know it gets better and will be worth it.

Plus I'm crazy amounts of stubborn. Like, crazy amounts.

Is the pain unbearable? The reason I ask is because it sounds like possible thrush? When I had thrush my breasts were having deep shooting pain?
I hope it's not that, just letting you know so you can look up more info and rule it out. Hope that helps... getter better soon momma! 😘
