how are you keeping LO warm?

LO just turned 7 months and I've been struggling trying to find something to keep him warm when we go out. We are still using the infant car seat but I'm not sure for how long because he's getting heavy and also very long.. I don't want to buy one of the covers for that car seat if we decide to change over to the convertible. I can't find him a pram that will fit, because he needs at least 12 months and all of them so far only go up to 9 months. He is getting over a cold and I want to keep him warm as possible when going out. Suggestions?

I have this poncho for my baby man.. back part just goes up behind his head & front part covers him.  I got it at Roots

We're having a miserable winter (-31C with the windchill) so I've really been limiting how much time we spend outside. My LO gets an extra layer of clothes (nothing puffy/bulky when riding in the car) and then two flannel blankets piled on top. I use one to cover the whole car seat when going from house to car or car to grocery store. If we're using a carrier she goes in a fleece suit and a snowsuit. On the milder days if she'll have skin exposed we use Vaseline on her cheeks to prevent windburn.

I've heard the ponchos are awesome because you can drape the back end over the car seat and the front like a blanket to keep them warm. I see women making them on facebook all the time like those fleece tied blankets!
