are these contractions?

I can't tell if what I'm feeling are contractions...I've never been in labor before. I'm 37+3 and I'm having what feels like painful bowl movement type cramps but they kind of go into my hips/top of my legs. I just woke up to this feeling so I haven't established a time or anything yet. Does that sound like true labor contractions or maybe just normal pregnancy pains?

I don't think it's true labor. I've been in to the hospital for false labor, and the nurses told me that true labor contractions are really hard to talk through - and you won't have to question if you're in labor.

Well they stopped and didn't amount to anything but hopefully they helped to progress me! I hadn't progressed at all at my last appointment

Well everyone feels it differently they say. But if it goes away say by changing positions or taking a shower etc then it might not be and just be Braxton hicks. I would say download an app like full term and measure the time it lasts and time between each one. If it becomes constant or more closely spaced together get to the hospital. I'm not a doctor but that's the advice I got from maternity classes. Good luck and I hope this helps!

That's how mine started. And they kept coming and getting closer together. Eventually they were hard to talk through like people talk about, but not at first.

Call your doctor sweetie! Explain to them what's going on and see what they say! We don't know because we are not licensed to know! I can tell you contractions to me felt like my lower back was in tight knots and the pain went around my hips to my lower abdomen where I felt strong strong painful menstrual type cramps and it would get more intense and would go up into my belly tightening everything hard  as a rock then slowly fade back away. Hope this helps!

Now see I'm different, when I had my 2nd little girl I didn't have any pain at all.
