Stupid question... serious answer

Okay so I'm planning a sexy night for my bf and I on Xmas eve. I got us a sex toy and I'm going to light some candles, play some music and wear some nice lingerie. Here's my stupid question... I want to put rose petals on the bed as a way to make things more romantic. My bf isn't so great at being romantic (he's really been trying lately). Soooo what do you do with the rose petals once things heat up?! Move them? Leave them on the bed? Do stuff on top of them? Anyone know? Lol
