ex wants to "catch up"

Recently I got into a a pretty bad car accident and ending up totaling my car over the thanksgiving break. I wasn't hurt but my exs mom reached out to my mom just saying happy thanksgiving and she hopes we're doing okay and that we will always be family. Well my mom told her about my car accident and my ex just now reached out to me saying he hopes I'm okay and i can call him anytime. My roommates also told me he stopped by my apartment looking for me. He texted  me again saying he would love to catch up , this is after months of not speaking. I don't really know what we would catch up on.. I mean I was in an accident but I'm completely fine so I don't get why he's trying to communicate with me. The break up was really bad so im just wondering what he wants.
