Sick as a dog. Second opinion needed?

So, about 5 days ago, I woke up with a sore throat, no big deal, it's winter. 
2 days later I went to Urgent Care to make sure I wasn't getting strep throat. It was a man that barely spoke English, he was rather rough with me when checking my lungs. He even said my lungs sound perfectly healthy (I was weezing the whole time I was there.) he just ran a strep test & said it was a bad cold. That's it. Told me not to take any medicine at all because I'm 38 weeks pregnant & decongestants will harm my mucous plug. (It won't.)
Now, day 5 & my sinuses are SO congested that it hurts all over my face. My nose & upper lip is chapped, I can barely speak & im producing more snot than I thought was humanly possible. My muscles ache & I woke up with a fever.

Just wondering if this seems way worse than it is because I'm only using mucinex to help it or if I seriously need antibiotics. I know only a doctor can tell me, but I would just like opinions before I have to make a trip into town.

I would call your doctor just to get a follow up since it sounds like you've gotten worse. For the congestion, try a saline nose spray! My favorite is an aerosol one with baking soda added. It helps relieve the dry and stuffy feeling & is totally safe. Fingers crossed you start to feel better soon!!!

So. I would make an appt. With your regular Dr. And call your obgyn because there are certain meds you shouldn't be taking. I got extremely sick when I was pregnant and I could only take robitussin and it was the one WITHOUT decongestants. And there were even certain cough drops I couldn't take.
Also your cold could have just developed into more (respiratory or sinus infection) after your trip to urgent care. I really think you should get checked out again, and I'm sorry you're so sick whilst being pregnant

When I get sick like that I use a netty pot. It's kinda gross but it works like a charm. Not sure if it effects pregnancy at all so check before you use it! Also, go to a different doc!

Update!!!

I DO have a sinus infection & was given amoxicillin with the OK to continue using my mucinex/saline spray.
