why would i measure 8 weeks 5 days if i conceived this last cycle?

according to me i should be 4 weeks 5 days. i got my period last month and they did blood and urine pregnancy tests and all came back negative then this month my HCG levels were high so they scheduled an ultrasound and i measured 8 weeks 5 days and there was a heartbeat. why is that?

40 weeks actually comes out to 10 months, not the 9 that we are typically said to carry. It threw me for a loop and it confused the hell out of me too! The reason is because they date your pregnancy from the first day of your last period, and not the date of conception. This is where that extra four weeks comes from.

This is a great question for your OB! I haven't heard of skipping forward 4 weeks, unless you had spotting that resembled a period and just didn't know you were pregnant yet! 
I've heard of women who didn't know they were pregnant because they had something they felt was a period with cramping and boob pain, PMS etc. Because those are all aumpt m of early pregnancy too!

Ask your OB! And just be happy you didn't get set back a couple weeks like me! I thought I was almost 8 and they said I ovulated late and pushed me back to 5.6! I'm 15 weeks today with a healthy little nugget!

They go by babies size. I was 13 weeks when I went for my first ultrasound but baby measured 11 weeks so they put my due date forward😣
