I do it all the time so I wouldn't restrict my husband.

Not at all. My husband and I both will occasionally have a beer or two while watching the baby, but we would never drink enough to impair our ability to take care of him.

A couple beers is fine. But you still have to think of, what if something happens that's not bad enough for an ambulance but warrants an ER visit. Then your husband would have to drive with the baby/kid under the influence.

I put myself on a drink per hour/4 drink max limit. If he was getting sloshed, I'd be concerned.
