Animals on the move

I'm about to move out of my parents giant house into my very first apartment (Yay!😃). Problem is that I had 2 cats while I lived with my parents and their house is a huge two-story house where my cats were free to roam around and my new place is a small, one bedroom apartment. Both cats are fairly old (about 10 human years old each) and I'm sure the move alone will stress them out, but how can I help them adjust to the much smaller space without overwhelming them? As they were at my parents house, they'll be free to roam about the apartment.
