sex after birth?

I was told by some no sex until usually 6 weeks after birth, but I was also told by many women that they did 3-5 weeks after. I was wondering if anyone had earlier than 6 weeks ? When did you have sex after birth and did you have stitches ? I was told I know my body best and to do what I feel comfortable with. I'm already 4 weeks since birth and bleeding has turned to on and off spotting; I had the tiniest stitches that have healed and I'm feeling great. I've had no pain at all since birth. I've felt great literally 2 days after birth, and had an amazing delivery. All in 4-5 hours, pushed for 15 minutes. My boyfriend is coming home from the military for Christmas for a week before his year long deployment and I know he's going to want some action, as do I lol. I will be about 4 1/2 weeks by then; we would use protection as well.

As you said "listen to your body"☺️👍🏾... my personal experience I didn't wait long at all (a week)... Before, during and after pregnancy our love grew for each other and we both took care in sharing that love for the first time after bringing our child into the world.

The big concern is that it takes ~ 6 weeks for your uterus to shrink back down (and for your cervix to be closed enough) to protect you from internal infection. Where the placenta was attatached is essentially a big, open wound. It needs to heal. Introducing sperm, bacteria, etc can put you at risk for infection, bleeding, sepsis, compromise fertility, etc...

I'd never want to risk any of that when there are plenty of ways to be intimate without vaginal penetration.  I completely understand you have a short window with your partner, and that is frustrating. If you do take the risk, be very aware of any additional bleeding, strange discharge, fever could signal a real emergency, so don't wait to seek treatment... and I'm sure you don't want your newborn without their mom while you're in the hospital on IV antibiotics.

If you feel ready then give it a try. It's your body and you'll know if it's the right time ( my nana said it's okay she's 60 so she knows what she's talking about )

I had stitches, but mine was a bad tear. At 6 weeks I cried and we had to stop during sex. With my second, the tear wasn't as bad and we went for it a little early. There are risks like infection and such, so do your research and make an informed decision. My ob's advice was take your time, use lots of lube and have a glass of wine beforehand. She was right 🙂

I personally would wait for 6 weeks but if you feel up to it and you have protection just take it easy. It's a little interesting the first time after birth. Good luck. Make sure he's showered and clean bcuz it basically to keep you form pregnancy, infection, damage and pain.
