35 weeks should I ask for maternity leave from my job??

I've been working at HEB as a bagger for about a month now and I get really bad cramps and Braxton hicks while working so much or carrying a heavy load. I just don't know if it's too soon to ask for my maternity leave since I'm 35 weeks. Should I ask or just keep working? Help!!

Ask you doctor and maybe it might be time. I've been on leave since I was 33 weeks cuz I can't lift anything heavy and my job requires me to do so.

Depends how much time off you get and when your job let's you start.  At my job, we have to work until our due date, and only get 10 paid days off.  I would rather have maternity leave after the baby arrives, rather than before.

Ask your doctor and talk to HR, but be aware that since you've only been there a month you may not qualify.

It's up to what you can handle. Can you cut hours at all?? Can you afford to stop working? Keep in mind, you technically have until 42 weeks for baby to be born. I stopped working at 37 weeks (retail) because I just couldn't handle all of the standing and walking anymore.
