For those who have had big babies...

Kat
My done was 7lb12oz 2 weeks early. I have a new doctor this time around and she thought that was pretty big. I brought this up to her because my son also broke his collar bone on the way out, had severe bruising and a huge scrape on his scalp. She thought it best that I do my glucose screening early (24 weeks) and then go to biweekly appointments. I didn't have GD the first time. However I had a very old doctor that just let me eat a snickers instead of doing the drink and I'm wondering if maybe the results weren't accurate? Has anyone else had to do it early? I'll also have growth scans in my third trimester.

My son was 7 lbs 12oz and I didn't have GD. But in small so they told me anything over 8 lbs was an automatic C-section.

I can't remember when I did my glucose test, I want to say 26 or 28 weeks. My son was 9.1 lbs. I didn't have GD.

She said it was big for 2 weeks early because they can gain up to a pound a week at the end.

7 lbs 12 oz is not that big at all! My daughter was 8 lbs 2 oz and I didn't have GD. I didn't even feel like she was that large... little bigger than average but nothing ridiculous

My last pregnancy ended in a stillborn at 33 weeks! I was boarderline GD with the 1 hour test! Had a growth scan at 31 weeks and was told I was measuring 2 weeks ahead and that my daughter was weighing just under 5lbs. When she was born at 33 weeks she weighed 5lb 14oz that's the size of a 35 wheeler and my dr was concerned because I also had a lot of fluid! So this time around I did my first glucose test at 16 weeks! Came back boarderline for the 1 hour so I did the 3 hour test at 17 weeks and past that with flying colors! I am now 28 weeks and just did the 1 hour again and they said if I come back boarderline again they are just going to treat me as a diabetic! I will also be starting growth scans at 29 weeks every 2 weeks and doing NSTs as well! But I'm considered high risk because of my history! I hope this helps!! But I do think that your other dr that did just the snickers bar was not a valid GD test!
