advice and tips?

my very first gyno appointment is tomorrow and i have no idea what is going to happen. are they gonna take my blood? am i gonna have to strip down naked? will it hurt??? i have a lady doctor which im not very nervous about that. will there be another nurse in there? how long will it take? i'm terrified just need advice and to know what usually happens!!!

First off: I can pretty much guarantee it won't be as bad as you're hyping it up to be (I know mine definitely wasn't). Your appointment will probably consist of either a urine sample of vaginal swabs to test for chlamydia and gonorrhea. Your doctor can also order additional STD tests if you want them. I'm not exactly sure how yours will do it, but mine doesn't draw the blood there. She just gives me a bloodwork order so I can go elsewhere.

As far as the actual exam goes, you won't strip down completely. Usually they give you some sort of gown to put on, and a little sheet to put over your lap. They'll probably do a breast exam (just feeling for lumps). Then they'll do a pelvic exam. That basically consists of putting a few fingers inside you and pushing on your abdomen (I think it's mostly checking your ovaries). If you're 21 or older they'll also do a Pap smear (if you're under 21 they probably won't). For Pap smears they put a little metal thing inside you to kind of hold things open (you feel it but it's not really painful) then they scrape some cells off your cervix. And that's about how the exam goes. Somewhere in there you'll have some time to ask questions about anything that might be bothering you.
