when do I test?

Question

My periods are weird and I haven't had one in awhile. I also don't know if/when I ovulated. So I don't know when to test for pregnancy do I just keep waiting or do I take one now and risk it being too early. If I test now I'll have to wait to test for another week or two when I get more tests...

Update: I think I'll either test tomorrow morning or Christmas Morning. Maybe I'll have an extra gift this Christmas. Still trying to not get my hopes up though.

You can buy numerous 88 cent tests from Walmart (was even told by an ob office it's the same as what they use). Test today or tomorrow and if it's negative wait a week and test again unless a cycle starts. I have pcos and don't get cycles without some form of medicine to start them. I also don't ovulate on my own and need fertility medicine for that as well. With irregular cycles it'll be harder to give and actual date if you are pregnant but they can do a dating ultrasound and give you a date. Also if you think you are treat yourself as though you are. No drinking/smoking, take a prenatal, don't eat foods you shouldn't be etc. with my son I didn't get a positive blood or urine test until 11-12 weeks and even had a negative ultrasound around 6-7 weeks.

The only risk in taking one too early is that it might just be too early and be negative, so you may have to take another one later.  It's  hard to advise you when to test because we don't know your lmp or ovulation days, if you were tracking those...
