What to buy for baby?

So I'm 19 weeks and 3 days. I got a bit of money for christmas and finally found out were having a boy. I wanna go and buy stuff now for the baby and kind of stock up, but I don't know what to buy.. I don't wanna over do it with diapers or wipes or clothes because we haven't had the shower yet.. so any advice or suggestions would be great.

Honestly - I would save the money until AFTER the shower.  I didn't receive a lot of clothes at my shower, but then I received a TON of hand me downs (in almost new condition), and clothes as Christmas gifts.  So now my closet is stuffed, hahaha

If you have enough, maybe buy a big ticket item that you don't expect to get at a shower. Crib, mattress, changing table, car seat, something like that. Most people would check with you before buying those, so you don't have to worry about getting doubles, like you could with clothes. For something a bit more fun, maybe buy a "coming home outfit" or a special toy.
