Need advice about cats lol
So we adopted 2 kittens from the shelter about 6 months ago they are both about 8 months old. I love them both and would never give them up I just need advice. I grew up with cats and they were all lazy and calm. These cats we own are insanely active and very smart. They will sprint around the house for hours knocking things over. They figured out how to open our bedroom door, our kitchen cabinets, and even know how to turn on our laundry room light. It's one of those lights where you pull the string and the bulb turns on. They will get on the dryer which is right under it and turn it on (im assuming they get it tangled in their paws and thats how). We will be laying in bed and all of a sudden see the laundry room light turn on then hear the cats hopping down off the dryer. If we leave any toilet paper out they rip it to shreds. We try to spray them with water whenever they do something we don't like but that only works for one. The other likes water and will even get in the tub after we are done showering and lay in it. So he doesn't mind being sprayed. Is this just because they are still kittens technically or do we need to seriously buy child proof locks for everything in the house? Or is there another good way to "discipline" cats? I don't believe in hitting animals or any sort of abuse so I don't want to hear anything like that. Just any tips for how you got your cats to behave a little better.
