Cervical exam

Ok so each time my MW tries to check my cervix it's seriously so painful that I scream for her to stop. At one appointment she wasn't in and so I saw the doctor she practices under. He checked me and it was no more than a little uncomfortable. I don't know what she's doing, but I'd like to be able to be checked. It just hurts so bad. To me it feels like her knuckles are DIGGING IN to the flesh around my vagina. The internal part isn't the painful part at all. Maybe her fingers are really short? I just know that I've been fine before with my 1st pregnancy and I tell myself every week that I'm just gonna breathe and get through it, but I can't. Anyone experience something similar?
