Safe Ways to Induce Labor

My brother's baby mama is due in about a week but they want to Induce her tomorrow. Her feet are too swollen to walk much and we couldn't find evening primrose oil where we live, and wanted to know what else can speed things along or ease the labor. My mom (baby's grandma) will be out of town for New Year's, so we're hoping her first grandson will make his arrival before then, but my brother's girlfriend isn't even 1 cm dilated, though he's dropped already (and he's for a big head). This is also her first baby, so she's nervous enough as is. Any tips on things to ease/speed things along?
