Confused!

Right Ladies! I'm having trouble with a man. The story of us goes like this. First year of uni we were such great friends, he had a gf but I never thought of him in a "fancy-able" kinda way? 

Second year of uni (this year) in Feb/March we were going out clubbing and I was pretty drunk, my home was far away from where we were so he said I could stay at his?? Several drunken nights of staying at his later I go back again and we "seal the deal". Since March we've been having sex pretty much everytime we go out! One time on a night out we had the conversation of "what is this" he said he didn't want a relationship, (I do) but I went along with it and agreed with him to "please him" (I think that was a stupid idea) Anywho! I also used to go round his and watch movies with him and his housemates and things. Then over the Easter holidays I met up with him and had a quick pint just myself and him and then the summer holiday came I didn't say bye to him so I gave him a text saying good luck on placement etc I really like you and it's a shame things didn't work out, he replies with "I like you too, it's just we're such good friends ya know" throwing in the friend card!! After this due to the hols I didn't see him for a couple of months, although snap chatting him pretty much everyday. He then in August invites me to his home and I meet his parents!!! To me though this is a huge deal!! His family friends who were also there asked us if we were anything and we both said "no we're friends/chilled" at the same time. I think this could be to do with the embarrassment of being asked whether you're a "thing" or the interrogation you would get if you said yes! After this "meet" happened he invited me to stay at his?? However I had important things to do the next day so couldn't. Anyways it gets to September and back to uni and he is now currently on placement. He comes back to uni occasionally to see friends and is keen to see me but we don't see each other every time he is in the area?  I want it to become more but I don't know how, he only messages me if I text first/snapchat first! I'm always the instigator. But when I do message he either seems to reply super quickly or waits days!? what do I do? Does he like me as much as I like him? I would just like some reassurance because it's nearly been a year and I feel like it's 1 step forward 10 steps back?? 😫
