continuing packs

So I'm on the combined pill and I've just finished the pack so I would usually have a 7 day break but basically the next couple months I have a lot going on in the time my period would come and I would have it on New Year's eve (no thankyou!) so I was thinking of continuing to the next pack and then again after that. I know that it's safe to consecutively start new packs but I was wondering the likelihood of spotting because my doctor said that's what would  happen and if so how bad because if I'm out and have no tampons or anything that's more inconvenient than a period really
