THOUGHTS ON MEMBRANE STRIPPING?

Question

What are your thoughts on membrane stripping? Did you have it done? How far along were you? Was it painful? Did it work & if so how long after? I am 39+1 weeks. I have yet to mention this to my dr. but I have an apt tomorrow.

I would not advise it. My mom did it once, never allowed a doctor to do it again because it hurt so bad. She told me it was the worst way she ever started labor, plus they put her on pitocin because she wasn't progressing "fast enough". She had the membrane sweep because it was convenient with family memers visiting that weekend and she wanted them to meet the baby before they left. She told me it was the stupidest decision she's made regarding birth and never to ask to be induced for the convenience of others.

I had it done with both my kids. I went into labor immediately with my son and had him 9 hours later. Went into labor about 24 hours later with my daughter and had her just 2 hours after labor started. Doesn't work for everyone but definitely worked for me!

I had it done. It hurt but nothing compared to a csection lol. I think my son came 2 weeks later.
