So what happens "after"??

I feel silly asking but it's been on my mind for couple of days. So much information on the entire pregnancy and labor and such but I'd really like to know (ftm of course) what happens in the time frame from after labor to the time you go home? I think the average stay is 2-3 days depending on delivery and such but what do you do during that time???

I slept a lot. Cried because it felt like my butt was going to fall off every time I moved and I snuggled my son. Pic because he's adorable.

They'll check you about 1000 times and tell you to rest only to have someone else coming in right after you finally fall asleep. Baby will be given a hearing test and vitals will be checked every time you're vitals are checked. A pediatrician will come check the baby again to make sure it's safe to go home. If your hospital has a photographer they'll come in to take pictures and try to sell you very expensive packages. I never had time to rest because someone was in my room literally every 30 minutes. It got super annoying so I requested a do not disturb sign for atleast a couple hours so I could actually sleep. I couldn't wait to be released!!!!

I stayed in 2 days because I had gd and baby had to be monitored. In that time both me and baby had observations fairly often. Baby had hearing tested and checked over by doctors as I had an assisted delivery.

For me lots of poking and prodding and making sure my incision is healing and not getting infected. Same with my baby. He got tests done and they made sure he was physically healthy. It was long stay because of my needing a c-section. And because I was induced and the c section was emergency cuz he was stuck! I came in at 8pm Sunday and left around noon Thursday. Yuck! But
