Who did you have a better experience with?

My husband wants a Doctor but I want a Midwife and my sister in law said I should look into a Doula but I don't think we have those in Florida (mostly cause that's what her Doula said) anyways could ya'll comment who you had the best experience with. This is our first pregnancy after trying for almost 3 years. I look forward to reading your good and bad experiences.

Check with your insurance, some insurances don't cover midwives.

I had a doc the first time... A woman at that... She was very... Distant, and tried to make things hard to understand she wouldn't elaborate on things when asked.. and she judge me for my age... I was only 18...  Like seriously... It was awful

This time I have a midwife.. shes younger... Not judgemental... I was capable of calling her really late for an emergency and was super sweet and didn't make me feel dumb..  the next child i will be going for a midwife again..

Im having a doctor. But my doctor did suggest a doula since I will be attempting drug free child birth to help with pain management. After some research we decided against it. One. They can be pretty pricey if you dont have it covered by your  insurance. And two, I dont really like strange people touching me. People tell me that the doula wouldnt be strange because I would meet them before. Yes, like 3 times max. I still dont want someone I bet 3 times putting their hands on me. Im just odd like that.

Keep in mind you can interview anyone that you're interested in before actually making a decision. I did. Lol My husband and family laughed at the idea. The thing is I knew what I needed and wanted. I personally have had horrible experiences with medication and the epidural. So I knew natural was the only way I could go. Believe it or not I had 5 doctors say that they couldn't make any promises about that but they would see what they could do! I finally found a clinic that listened and understood what I was saying. I am so happy I took the extra time to find a dr. It was definitely worth it.

Some places do both!! Takes some research but I say def look into it! I have 1 doctor I see and also have a midwife. It's like a partnership at the hospital I go to.

I am from Norway and we can choose to go to either a midwife, a doctor or alternate between both. I have done the latter with all my three babies and now my forth. I feel safe knowing they both have tabs on me:) But if I had to choose I would go for the midwife since she is more Concerned with YOU and not just the numbers and measurments. ( although my doctor is great!!)

I live in Florida- we do have doulas, but they have to work under either a midwife or a dr.  They're more support than anything.

I'm going dr, but I'm high risk.  All the ladies I know who have gone midwife have loved it- but all had relatively easy pregnancies and no health risks in sight.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my midwife. It is not your husbands birth, it's yours! You get to say how you do it! Just remember that!

I've had two babies under doctor "care" and my last was lucky enough to get a midwife. My insurance only covers licensed nurse practitioner midwives, and our experience with the birth center and midwife was overwhelmingly more positive than my nightmares at hospitals previously.
We ran back to our birth center to reclaim a midwife as soon as we found out we were pregnant again.
However, this is our 6th pregnancy and e are experienced in natural birth.  If this is your first and you do not wish for natural birth, you may be more comfortable at a hospital with an OB.
