My bf and I do anal all the time and here's my tips:

1. Start with fingers or a small plug, really take time to stretch those muscles, no ampunt of time is too much.

2. There is no such thing as too much lube, water based is best.

3. Empty your bowels 2-3 hours before, no more than 3 and no less than 30 minutes if in a crunch.

4. Relax, take deep breaths, and realize it will be a bit uncomfortable at first because it takes some getting used to, but in my experience is one of the most enjoyable.
