STAH vs Daycare?

Question

My husband and I are trying to decide if I should stay at home or keep working. I have a good job, make good money and don't really want to give that up. If we choose daycare my SO will never see our baby because of his hours. Any advice, ideas or comments?

There's the quality time aspect of it as well as financial for us. Daycare is sooo expensive around here that I'd basically be working only to afford the care needed while I was at work! So fortunately, I will get to stay home with LO.

I'll be staying home for the same reason. It would be $800-900 a month for someone else to care for our child.  I had to with my first, but I prefer to raise our little one at home this time.  They're only babies once and I feel like I wasted so much time working, time I'll never get back.

I'm staying home because daycare is too expensive for us. I would be making very little on top of what we would be paying... And we know we will be having a second maybe next year. It will suck for a while financially, but it's the best decision for us! It's a tough choice tho. Look into daycares & price things out & do what's best for you!

I'll be staying home. I work in a daycare and even with my discount, what I get paid it's not worth it. I'll probably get an at home job though. But all that could change if I do get a better job I just don't see that happening

Why would your SO see baby less if you chose daycare over staying home? My husband works later hours than I do. So he drops baby off at daycare and I pick him up. He doesn't see him in the evenings but they have the morning together. It would be the same time if I was home. It's all your choice. I work full time. I'm sure if I had multiple kids I'd feel like I was working just to pay for daycare but I only pay $35 a day for my one baby. But only you know what's best for your family. Some days are harder than others and I miss my baby a lot. But having financial stability involves me working.

Personally I no idea why anyone would choose to leave their baby in a daycare all day if they didn't absolutely have to. I didn't have kids to pay someone else to raise them; I want to do that. Of course some people can't afford to stay home which I totally understand, but I can't imagine leaving my baby or kid in a daycare and missing out on most of their life. If you choose to go back, maybe you could at least wait until baby is a little older so that they can at least clearly tell you if anything happens that you should know about?

I'm going back to work. I make enough that it will make a sizable difference to our household income once I return to work, even with daycare. I don't want to, but we have bills to pay. I only have one child though. If I had a few it wouldn't make much sense to return.

I stay home because it's not worth it to pay for daycare when I'm not bringing home much extra money after paying for it. Have you looked into hubby staying home if you have a better job than him?

But my hubby works construction so his hours vary so sometimes he's coming home after the kids are in bed. Sometimes he's home around 4pm. Always has sundays off though so at least we have that day. Sometimes Saturday is off too. Depends on how much work there is and such.
