anyone good at dog training? need advice

My dog is just about a year old and for the most part he's terrific and we haven't had many issues with training him. The only thing I've found impossible to break him of is jumping up on people, he literally jumps up on your legs anytime you walk through the house. How can we break him from doing this? I'm 38 weeks pregnant and he constantly trips me and I'm worried about having a newborn around with him constantly doing this 😕

We have a 70 lb lab and the main thing that broke her of this habit was putting a knee up into her chest when she jumped, it would knock her down and only took a couple times before she caught on

Teach him to sit and stay in a place away from the door.  Start by having someone knock and reward your dog for staying.  If he gets up correct him and tell him to "place" and take him back to the spot.  You can use a rug or bed to make the spot more official.  Work up slowly to opening the door and having that person come in.  The dog needs to stay in their place until you release them.  When you get him you should be able to tell your dog to place and he should go right back. For jumping turn your body around and say "uh uh" then walk away without giving attention.  Continue to do it until he sits (might need to give the command) and then you can give attention. Hope this makes sense.  I'm dead tired at the moment lol

See I have a 60-70 pound dog loves to jump on you. He just wants you to hold his paws and he can see your face. I hate it tho. So I can tell when he is going to do it n I turn sideways and say sternly NO. Turning sideways works for some reason. I also push him down if he does make it. N say NO. He doesn't jump on me anymore. I just don't want him scratching my belly or jumping on strangers as he's a big dog and I'm sure he cud scare someone. Find what stops him and stick to it. It def takes some time.

Everyone has given great tips about ignoring and putting the knee out but you have to think about it this way - he is jumping to get your attention, that is what he wants and jumping is how he believes he will get it. But, not only do you have to stop him jumping, have to give him a different way to get your attention, in this case the best one is for him to sit in front of you. So when he jumps, ignore him - NO attention (even anger is attention, you have to pretend he doesn't exist) show him that jumping will basically render him unvisible to you, he will soon catch on. Now with the sitting, you have to teach him that this is the best way to get your attention! Whenever you see him sitting, go and congratulate him, give him scratches and happy vibes, whenever you see him, get him to sit before greeting him, even if it's only been 20 minutes since you last saw him. Make sitting the BEST away to get attention. And remember, consistency is key! Even one small jump you have to immediately turn away and ignore. Dogs has short attention spans so you only need to ignore him until about 2 minutes after he's stopped jumping, then you can start new haha. All of my dogs run up to me super exited and then plonk their butts on the ground and I give them a pat and they always look so proud of themselves. Hope that helps!

Just put your knee up anytime they jump and they will learn not to jump up. Mind you dont do it hard enough to hurt them just to startle them

I'm not sure how big your dog is, but every time our dog (a 45 lb Australian Shepherd) jumped up on us, we grabbed her, flipped her on the back, and forced her on the ground. Not in a rough way at all, but in a way that took her by surprise. We honestly only had to do this a handful of times before she caught on and stopped jumping (on strangers too!). It worked very well! 
However, if your dog is huge this can be tough ☺

Turn your back and ignore him until he stops jumping. He is doing it to get your attention, so if you turn your back and don't give him attention he will stop. You can view the technique on YouTube as well

I agree with Stacie. Give him a hard knee or a light kick. You don't want to hurt him, just get his attention.
