Drug test at ER?

I know how terrible it sounds but I swear, the information isn't for me. Can the ER legally drug test without your consent when you go into labor? Do the doctors drug test at prenatal check ups? I'm debating with my friend about it, we wanted your input as well! (P.s it doesn't actually apply to either of us, just came up)

They sure do here. It's in the little print that 99% of people do not read. And yes, if you test positive they do involve dcs.

Of course they can drug test without permission. They do it to adults who come in the ER.

Here in Oregon when I went to have my son they had to ask for consent to drug test. Thought that was weird, I of course allowed them to test me but found it odd that they need consent. Especially if a baby might have an issue that could be related to the mothers drug use.

Do they do this for all babies? I thought they would only do that if there was suspicions. I feel like that's weird.

In florida I believe they test the baby only if there's suspicion of use.

Most states will drug test the baby at birth, through blood and or merconium.
