maternity leave?

when did you guys take your maternity leave? i'm 26 weeks but have a shorten cervix and i'm close to having an open cervix. My doctor put me on a hormone to stop my cervix from going into labor this early. I work at a nursing home and it's not good to lift, they don't follow my restrictions so i'm just thinking about going on maternity leave. What do you think i should do?

In Canada we get a year maternity leave. And with a dr notes you can get paid sick leave earlier (not sure how many weeks for sick leave) If your In my area I would go on sick leave now and start maternity leave after. Keeping that baby in you as long as possible is the most important for your baby. Good luck momma 😊

Yeah I wish I could help, it sounds like your in a hard situation. It's hard for me to relate because I'm only eight weeks with bad nausea and if I make it to 16 weeks and still have nausea, I'm just going to quit my job because my husband's income can support us, but it will be tight. For me, maternity leave is just extending the inevitable because I plan to stay at home for the first year or two... When you need your job is hard. Maybe bring up your concerns to your employer? Sometimes they can approve additional leave.

Most maternity leave is only 12 weeks. If you take it now and then go full term, you would have no time after birth. If you plan to quit your job after birth, then go for it.

Most doctors will recommend 6 week maternity leave, but if you can afford 12 weeks then go for it. I had only planned to take three weeks so I was going to work until I popped. However when I spoke to my doctor he recommended that I at least take 5 weeks so I could have at least a week off before baby was born. I will be 38w3days when I finally take my leave. However I'm not a high risk pregnancy.
