baby food replace bottle?

We are starting solids next weekend when baby girl will be 6 months.. was curious how many times does your LO eat baby food and do u give food in place of a bottle feeding or do u give food and a bottle? Also how much food does your LO eat?

Food does not replace the bottle. The bottle is still the main source of nutrition when you are introducing food.

We have only been doing one feeding of solid food a day and she does not eat much, last night I made homemade avacodo baby food and she loved it she ate more of that then anything she has tried.

I do her first bottle of the day then wait an hr and do fruit and oatmeal. At night she has oatmeal again and she drinks about 6oz before bed. She has only been on food for a week , but shes done well. I think shes finally ready

We do a fruit in the morning for breakfast then 1 1/2 hours later she gets her first bottle, then she gets 2 more bottle 3 hours apart. Then dinner is a veggie baby food about 1 hour after last bottle! She gets a bottle with oatmeal cereal before bedtime.

Babies need breastmilk or formula until at least 12 months. Feed the bottle as usual and give solids between bottle meals.

When you start on baby food they say you have the bottle first and then the food. If baby goes for it then you switch after a day or two and give food and then bottle. What i found that worked the best was starting with rice cereal made with breastmilk. Make it quite runny the first few times. Then slowly start thickening it. After a week or two start mixing in some veg into the rice cereal. Butternut, pumpkin or sweet potatoe are a huge hit. Never mix the veg yet until you know there are no allergies. Then you slowly start adding less and less rice cereal and milk until its just veg. Then mix it and have fun with it.

Solids should not replace breastmilk or formula. Baby should get a few tablespoons once a day after nursing/bottle. At this stage food is more to explore taste/texture than actual nutrition.
