Don't know if I should be mad or not

The other day my bf told me I needed to go on birth control and said no more sex unless I go on it and we have been having sex for months unprotected and just the night before he told me I needed to go on birth control we had unprotected sex too..and idk if I should be offended or if he was just joking or what...like I know I need to get on birth control but no sex until I do?...like seriously
