Water breaking?

FTM 39+1 I think my water is leaking? How soon do I need to head to l&d? What does it feel like if your water broke or is leaking? My doctor told me to wait till contractions are 5 mins apart, but I'm kinda scared about risk of infection.

My Labor & Delivery Nurses said to go in asap if:

⚠Your water breaks
⚠Contractions are ON TOP of each other
⚠Or if you start bleeding heavily/clotty

(Spotting is normal since your body is opening up and getting ready)

My water leaked w my first and I didn't realize what was happening/didn't go in. My OB at that time was awful and refused to take any after hour calls so I held out a day until it broke completely the next night. She was a-ok. I think if it's leaking it's not as bad as it fully breaking. But you should keep a close eye on everything and if you think it's worth going in it never hurt anyone to be sent home.

If your water broke/leaking,  you need to go to L&D right away.

When mine broke,  there wasn't a dramatic amount of water like in TV,  just a small gush whenever I sat/laid film and got back up. I didn't have any contractions (just Braxton Hicks) till about an hour before I gave birth.

It's better safe than sorry.  Had I waited want longer or but traffic in the way to the M hospital,  I would have had my baby in the car.
