What is your opinion on white people wearing traditionally black people's hairstyles?

I want to know if a white person wearing dreads, cornrows, or any other traditional hairstyle worn by POC will be viewed as insensitive. Leave any thoughts below :))

The reason I don't like the idea of it is because black people are looked down upon for certain things that are culturally theirs. They get made fun of for a lot but when white people do it, it's a new "style" and they're looked at as if they are being different.

Whats offensive about culture appropriation is that, lets say for instance, black people. Features like big lips, and big butts, historically looked down upon, made fun of, etc. And then you have nonblack people adopting, or striving to have these traits and then it becomes acceptable,  and is an attractive thing.

The main thing was that features that were mainly blacks' were ridiculed and criticized. 
Now these features are trends and even now are preferred on a white person.

I even see whites dancing To our music Genres

Seems the only thing they don't want is our melanin.

(And tanning does not count)

Unpopular opinion but I don't think hairstyle has anything to do with racism or cultural appropriation. It's one thing if you're wearing someone's cultural attire and dancing around making fun of it. THAT is cultural appropriation. Using someone's beliefs and lifestyle as some kind of joke, not knowing it's true meaning, is not okay. Twisting, knotting, brushing, tying, dying, or braiding hair shouldn't even be involved. For instance, dreads. We didn't always have hairbrushes ya know. 😂 My husband is white. He has really curly, course hair. If he doesn't brush it he literally gets naturally formed dreads all over his head. So you're telling me he is being racist and insensitive for not brushing his hair?

I'm Latina and do not chose a side but I don't understand all the fuss. It's 2017 and we are working on everyone becoming equal. I know that in the past different cultures have been looked down upon especially the African cultures but cmon people be happy that a white girl and black girl can go get their hair done together 😂 we should stay positive and accept and admire that people are interested in other cultures even if it's just fashion

This is such a racist feed. So many WOC using "our", "our culture", "we". Ya'll literally putting yourself in your own category. We are all women. Can we just celebrate each other's qualities, embrace each other for being women together, and integrate our differences so ALL of us stop feeling left out? It seems so crazy to me that the American culture is about mixing EVERYTHING and making it all one, and yet there are still people trying to say "this is ours and you can't have it because it's cultural appropriation!"

The problem is black women get called ghetto and ugly for wearing natural hairstyles like dreads or cornrows so we're pressured into weave and perms and straightening our hair. Then they take our culture put it on nonblack people and say wow check out this new style. It's sexy it's edgy. Then when black people call them out they turn around and criticize us for wearing weave. The same hair styles that we were pressured into by those same people because or natural hair is ugly. only in America is it legan to discriminate against natural hair. Black people cant wear theit natural hair if they want a corporate job or of they want to be in the military. But it's not dirty when some nonblack model wears it.
