Expensive Engagement Ring ?

Happy New Years All! My boyfriend let slip that he plans to propose to me as we went to a jewellery shop and he asked me what's my ideal ring. Anyhoo, right now he doesn't have a job and has a limited budget. I chose a beautiful ring that cost only $700.  He however, has now decide I deserve more and he would like to get me a ring that cost $3000, I guess he thinks my mother and sister would laugh at my $700 ring. I personally think we aren't financially stable and I would like a 2 year engagement just to save up to have the wedding I would like and a home we would like.

I also informed him that maybe once we are financial stable then we could consider updating my ring.  I really could care less tbh!

I just want to know your opinions! Would you be content with a cheaper ring!

I've seen this before. He thinks you deserve a better ring but really he can't afford it and is going to put off the engagement claiming he is saving for the perfect ring for you.

I hand picked a ring in my husband's budget. It is a beautiful fake ring and now that we are more than financially stable. . I will never replace this ring. No one has ever laughed at the cost.. in fact. . No one has asked. No one has a right to ask.

Unfortunately I can't add a picture to my previous post. 
But this is my fake engagement ring. I love it and I will NEVER let him replace it. It was what we could afford at the time.  Now we are more than blessed, but I would never ask for more. 
The ring is nothing. Your ring is just a ring. It's the marriage behind the ring. 
If your mom and sister judge you for the cost of your ring, kick those sorry girls out of your life. They don't deserve to be in your life if they are going to judge you for your ring. The $300 you picked out is way way more than the cost of my ring. So I would hate to know what they would think of mine !

My wedding set was maybe $900 on sale and I adore it. No need to go outside of the budget for something so fickle. As long as you're happy with it, insist on it. The only ones who are going to know what you spent are you two and frankly, anyone who focuses too much on the ring aren't focusing on the important things.

My sister is married and she has an expensive ring. She's also in debt from her wedding and the fact that they needed to purchase a car after they got married (she was sharing with my mum before). I would personally love it if whenever I got engaged, my partner wouldn't be putting himself in a little bit of a financial situation because he thinks I deserve better. It's nice that he thinks that but if he buys me a ring and I think it's beautiful, that's all it matters.

I have a friend who's engagement ring is from Swarovski and her wedding bands are from Pandora. She didn't want her husband going crazy on jewellery. His wedding ring cost a total of $120 because she paid money to have it engraved inside.
