confirming pregnancy appointment?

I found an obgyn and made the first appointment for 8 weeks but should I go to my regular doctor before that to confirm my pregnancy? I know I'm pregnant but just wondering if there are any other tests or vital info I need right away? I feel weird just relying on my home pregnancy test and waiting a month before I actually see a doctor.

I called my OB right away to set up an appointment but since I'm impatient, I called my PCP to get bloodwork confirmation right away. (she said she normally doesn't do blood work, just urine confirmation, but the doctors office uses the same urine HCG tests that we do, so I was insistent on bloodwork!)

It's probably different for me since I'm in the military but when I found out I went to the hospital and they did a urine sample .. when that came back positive (I knew it would) they did blood work to make sure I was healthy and stuff ... it's wasn't an Obgyn that I saw it was a family med dr. And then I'll make my first appt around 10 weeks ... congrats lady!
