Midwife or OB/GYN?? 🤓

Hello beautiful mamas! I'm actually not expecting but absolutely LOVE pregnancy and am deciding between becoming a midwife or an OB/GYN in the Netherlands 👶🏻👶🏼👶🏽. What are your experiences with the two and thoughts on their role in your maternal care?? Would love to hear from you 💕💙

If you have the option and can afford it I'd say go the midwife route .. they're more involved and attentive to your all around pregnancy WANTS and needs .. whereas the obgyn depending who you get may be less attentive to your wants and only focus on your needs .. however I couldn't afford the midwife route but I did my research .. I had to go to an obgyn which has been my ob and luckily she's amazing and I had an amazing labor and delivery however the prenatal appointments were short and in my opinion sometimes a waste of time lol

I love my midwives. They were supportive of my wishes for a natural birth. The welcomed my doula into appointments and the delivery. They allowed my husband to deliver our son. Just an overall great experience. Not to say doctors wouldn't sometimes be as supportive but that's not been my experience.

If your looking for someone who is more likely to take the time to learn about and respect your wishes and to take the time to help you make fully informed decisions, a midwife is your best bet. There are great OBs out there but your odds of having evidenced based care are better with a midwife.

My one bit of advice is to remember a midwife is NOT a doctor. So make sure to always double check any medical advice you're given (including prescriptions) with an OBGYN

Though I live in Florida I loved having midwifes with my daughter and also using them for my son. Here they have to be certified and the two I use are actual doctors/nurse practitioners. 
They are very sweet and let you do what you feel needs to be done. personally for me I'm more comfortable there than at a hospital and the chance of losing control of my birth scares me.

I know woman care is better there then the US so I guess it only depends if you're more natural of s person or not.
