HCG test confusion

I took a test this AM and at 1-3 minutes there were two lines, but after the 5 minute wait time there was only the control line. Would it be that it's too early to test and so there isn't much hcg in the urine and so the control line pulled the dye away from the test? Or was it just that o looked too early and they're usually like that? I've never seen a test do that before!!
