Waiting... It's Difficult. Advice???

So my boyfriend and I have been dating for almost 3 months now and he is the most respectful, consentful, caring guy I've dated. I am very happy with him and we are best friends. We can talk about anything and everything. I am his first girlfriend, his first date, first kiss and first love. We are what is considered "sexually active" but haven't actually had sex but we have had the conversation several times. I am 17 and he is 16 (only 10 months apart). The other night I asked him how long he thought we should wait and he said until I'm ready in which I said "no we both have to be ready and comfortable it's a pretty big choice for us to make." We said 8-10 months.  BUT! I want to sooner. Like around 6 months. We just had the discussion but I don't how to tell him that I want to sooner. How do I tell him? Is that too soon? I want to wait but I don't. I need advice please.
