Nipple pain

So the past couple of hours I've been having really painful stinging feeling on my left nipple and I thought it was just because it was dry so I put lotion on it and it didn't help which it usually does, this has happened like 6 times before, but this is the worse it's ever been. Should I be concerned and get a doctor's opinion or is it gonna be fine if I leave it? There's not really a rash as you can see but it is kinda red
