Are bumper pads safe?

Question

A lot of people say bumper pads aren't safe. So how do you keep baby from hitting their heads or getting legs stuck in the slats? Did you have this issue?

They make mesh ones. Other than that, it's a SIDS risk. Just like putting a pillow or blanket in the crib

No. Fabric and mesh bumpers are unsafe. A bump on the head is not a big deal.

They are technically not safe... not even the mesh ones....... i had none for the first few months but when she started losing all her soothers in the middle of the night and i had to move the crib to find them i decided to get a mesh one..... by then she was able to roll around comfortably so i wasnt worried anymore. I prefer having a nice rail cover for the cozy look lol.   When they are small they dont roll around anyways so so issues with bumping their head. She did get her leg caught 1-2 times but no biggy.

You can use mesh but you don't really need any.

We did the mesh ones but not until she was in her crib at 5 months and was rolling extremely well. Before that she was in the pack n play beside my bed and wore a snuza monitor

Babies die from crib bumpers so no they're not alright unless you're willing to risk that. A little bump is worse than suffocation. And the mesh ones aren't recommended either.

Yes just get the mesh ones. Either way if it wasn't mesh I don't see any harm there is so much open air and space in a crib.
