Any Experience ?

I'm roughly 4-5 weeks pregnant.. Scheduled to terminate next week, does anyone have any experience with this process ?

I've worked as a labor doula and have accompanied lots of women to d&cs as well as elective abortions. Women who go on to miscarry later can't blame the abortion. Miscarriages are common and occur in 1 in 3 pregnancies. It's time to quit shaming woman with ancient misinformation. The appointment lasts 1-2 hours. The bulk of the time is a questionnaire, and allowing medications to take effect before they begin the procedure. You will then prep just like you would for a pap, then the doctor will come in typically they will do an internal ultrasound (screen not facing you). Then they will dilate your cervix and begin and the procedure itself is very brief just a few seconds and it's done. Every client I've accompanied expressed a huge weight lifted or relief knowing they weren't ready to have a child. Shame on those of you who just came to pass judgement. She asked for help, and not your opinion.

I've never had one, but I'm sure you can call your doctor and they'll give you a run through of what you can expect. If you're receiving an abortion pill, you can expect to experience cramping and blood (like a period). Stock up on some ibuprofen and comfort food.

This is your decision and your body, so don't let other people make you feel bad or ashamed of it. It's no one else's business but yours.

Please consider adoption at least. Just do some research on it. I'm not trying to tell you what to do with you body, I'm just trying to give some advice. I considered abortion at one point, because I thought it was the easy way out. I ended up keeping the pregnancy and placing my son in a great home. I couldn't imagine it any other way. Babies are truly the greatest gift in this world. Lots of women will always regret having an abortion, but not one will ever regret keeping the baby alive. Here's my son healthy and happy at 6 weeks. 
He was a rape baby. But I love him so much.

My best friend had 2 abortions back to back. I'm against it but as a friend I supported her decision. The next time she got pregnant and decided to keep it because she believed now she was ready to take care of a child. Around 3 or 4 months she called me historically from work and I had to rush her to the hospital. She ended up miscarrying sadly but regretted her previous decisions to abort. Now she has a healthy 7 month old baby girl and wouldn't trade it for the world! Nobody can tell you what to do with your body but just make sure that's exactly what you want before going through. I don't believe in abortion as this human has done nothing to you. Sometimes it can be for the best bringing it up. But that's my thoughts on that. From my understanding someone close to me has had it done. 
She said it can very traumatising having to deal with it. 
She was in pain afterwards. 
Everyone is different though. 
If I was you I would go and see someone in the healing side of it.

Abortion has a lot of really negative side effects, emotionally & physically. It's definitively linked to breast cancer & some other issues. If you are unable or unwilling to keep your baby (understandable), please consider adoption for your health's sake. Your body was made to have babies & recover, and any intervention (like abortion) to a natural process could actually make you sterile later on to have children.

Hug! Hope you aren't feeling too down about it. I know an unplanned pregnancy doesn't seem ideal, but there are lots of parents waiting for a child and this could be their answer as well as yours.

I had an abortion two years ago. I don't regret it. I don't really think about it. I will say it's tarnished my idea of a happy pregnancy. I feel like when I'm finally emotionally and financially ready to have a baby, I'll still feel wrong because I terminated my first one. I don't really know how to describe it. Just that I was so ashamed and scared when I found out I was pregnant, and friends along with my boyfriend's mother were cruel and judgemental. It was part of what pushed me to get an abortion. I don't regret it but I won't ever forget it.

To those posting you do realize a d&cs and an elective abortion are the exact same procedure yes? To say you to are medically doomed for having an abortion is to say your also doomed for having a miscarriage. Educate yourselves. Women should empower other women. Quit throwing stones.
