replace baby bottles?

Are baby bottles supposed to be replaced? If so how often and why? Or does it depend on the brand? I never thought about this until I read a comment on here, just curious because I had my First Last year and used bottles(never microwaved) but I sterilized them regularly. I was planning on using these with my next baby due next month. Should I replace or can they be used but maybe just new nipples? Also they weren't used very much only for a couple of months when I was pumping. I exclusively BF.

Just get new nipples and sterilize them and you're good to go

Plastic bottles do end up with tiny scratches that can harbor bacteria and eventually they look slightly cloudy even when clean. It is usually best to replace them after plenty of use.  Glass and silicon bottles typically don't need to be replaced. Probably wouldn't hurt to get New nipples. 😊

Anyone want to fill me in on baby bottles in general like is there a difference between newborns and infants and the bottles they'd need? I'd like to pump but I want to be prepared in case it's not as easy as I hope also when I eventually need to pump.

I think I read somewhere it's a good idea to change them every 6 to 8 months? But I think over all u'll be the best judge of that, u'll prolly see they're scratched up a lot and as they're obv used for milk, they start to smell a lot and u just realise it's prolly time to throw them away. Plus as u said if ur not even using them as frequently then of course they'll last longer so the same rule wouldn't apply to u. U'll just see their colour goes off and they start smelling bad...

Bottles do eventually get a milky hazy film. I suppose someone who is a clean freak would replace them every month. However, i think every 3 months is enough. Nipples are different. I use wide Dr Browns and the nipples wear out about every 4 weeks.

i used my bottles for 15 months (formula fed) and now they are starting to get bad so i bought new ones for second baby. But as long as they are in decent condition, i don't see why you would need to buy new ones
